Tomeet the requirements of potable, industrial and agricultural water, the immediateneed is to treat waste water, particularly the sewage sludges and slimes fromthe municipal and industrial effluents respectively. These effluents are highlyundesirable and unsafe. The removal of contaminants from waste water is amust before they can be reused. The removal of contaminants from theseeffluents involves the process of flocculation and coagulation. The purpose ofthe present article is to clarify and explain the processes in details along withthe materials involved in the processes. This will be essential for the presentday life.

JIACM 2013; 14(3-4): 247-52 Vitamin D deficiency: A new risk factor for cardiovascular disease Biswajit Das*, Trinath Kumar Mishra**, Satya Narayan Routray**, Chhabi Satpathy*, Hrudananda Mishra*** Vitamin D deficiency is emerging as a new risk factor for various cardio-vascular diseases (CVDs), specifically atherosclerotic vasculardisease. A number of epidemiological studies have shown that vitamin D deficiency is prevalent among many populations cuttingacross all ethnicities and among all age groups. With the growing menace of the epidemic of CAD, emergence of another commonlyprevalent risk factor for the same is a matter of concern. Although the link between vitamin D deficiency and CAD has beenconsistently proven, interventional trials with supplementation of vitamin D or calcium have been disappointing in terms of riskreduction. Further research in this direction is underway and is likely to improve our understanding, and open up newer avenuesfor reducing the risk of CAD.

PAZORI signaleert knelpunten, prioriteert richtlijnonderwerpen, stimuleertverbetering van richtlijnmethodiek en de integratie van palliatieve zorg in tumorspecifieke richtlijnen. Because of the potential risk for transmission, it should be prepared, handled, and disposed of as a biohazard material (see PRECAUTIONS and DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION). BCG infections have been reported in health care workers, primarily from exposures resulting from accidental needle sticks or skin lacerations during the preparation of BCG for administration. Nosocomial infections have been reported in patients receiving parenteral drugs that were prepared in areas in which BCG was reconstituted. BCG is capable of dissemination when administered by the intravesical route, and serious infections, including fatal infections, have been reported in patients receiving intravesical BCG (see WARNINGS, PRECAUTIONS, and ADVERSE REACTIONS).
